Write A Letter To Your Best Friend About Your New School
Dear [name],
I’m writing to tell you that I’m so excited to be starting my first day of school at [school name]. The teachers are all so friendly, and the students seem great too. The campus is beautiful, and it’s super close to home!
We’ve been friends since forever, so I know we’ll be in each other’s lives for a long time. I can’t wait to see what happens next.
All my love, [Your name].
Dear [friend’s name],
It’s been so long since we’ve had a chance to talk. I’m so sorry that things have been so busy, but I couldn’t wait to tell you about the new school I’m going to!
I got accepted into [school name]—it’s a really great school and it’s just what I wanted. It has a great reputation, and the campus is beautiful. It’s also close to home, which means that Mom and Dad can come visit me more often.
I’m really excited about this new chapter in my life, but I’ll always remember the good times we had together back in our old town.
Dear [best friend’s name],
I hope you’re doing well! I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately, and I can’t wait to hear from you.
I know it’s been a long time since we talked, but I wanted to let you know how much I’m enjoying my new school. It’s so different from the last one, and I think that’s exactly what I needed. It feels like they really care about me here. They ask me questions about my life, and they want to know what makes me happy. That’s something I never got at my old school, which was just kind of like “oh yeah sure go study somewhere else now bye.
The classes are great too—we get to work together on projects a lot more than we did in junior high, which is nice because it means we get to hang out outside of class too! And even though this place has a lot more rules than my old school did (which took some getting used to), it seems like those rules are there for a reason, and not just for no reason at all like at my old school.
Anyway, hope all is well with you back home!
Dear [friend’s name],
I hope you’re doing well. I am sorry I have been out of touch for a while—you know how it is, with school starting and all.
I’m in a new school now, and it’s funny because when I started here everyone was really excited about making friends and the teachers were really helpful, but now that we’ve been here for a few weeks it feels like nobody cares if we get along with each other anymore. It’s like they just want us to sit in our seats and listen to them talk, which isn’t bad but it’s not as fun as it used to be.
I think the best part about being here is that there are so many different kinds of people here who do so many different things! There are kids who play sports every day after school and kids who never go outside at all except when they have PE class on Tuesdays and Thursdays (which is only like two hours long). There are kids who play video games all day long—and not even real ones! And then there are kids who love reading books so much that they’ll read for hours at a time if you let them!
Hey, [friend’s name].
I hope you’re doing well! I’m writing to tell you about my new school. It’s called [school name], and it’s really different from my old school. In some ways it’s the same—there are teachers, students, classrooms, and bells. But in other ways it’s very different—like how there are no classes in which we have to memorize facts about animals or about ancient civilizations (which I never liked anyway).
There are other differences too. In my old school, I had a lot of friends who were always talking about their favorite sports teams and asking each other questions like “Who do you think will win the Super Bowl this year?” At my new school, nobody talks about sports at all—they just talk about music or TV shows instead! And they don’t ask each other questions either; instead they make statements that sound like questions but aren’t really questions at all. For example: “That shirt looks great on you.” Or: “Doesn’t she have gorgeous hair?”
I’m still getting used to this new way of talking with people here at [new school name]. Sometimes when someone says something like that to me, I don’t know what they mean exactly.
Hey, [best friend’s name]!
I can’t believe how much has happened since we last spoke. Thanks for the letter you sent me. It was so nice to hear from you. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to write back. Things have been busy here.
I’ll tell you everything in this letter, but first let me tell you about my new school. It’s called [school name]. It’s a big school with lots of people and lots of classes. I’ve never been in such a big school before! The classes are really interesting, too—there are so many different subjects to choose from!
I know you like science, so maybe we can take some classes together next year? We always liked science together, right?
Anyway, I’m really excited to be here at this new school and meet all these new people! Keep writing letters to me so I can keep up with what’s going on back home!
Hey, [best friend’s name]!
So I’m writing this letter to you to tell you about my new school. It’s called [name of school]. It’s really cool because it has a lot of people who are different from me and they all have different interests. There’s even a group of kids that plays soccer in the school yard, and I’ve never seen anything like it before!
I don’t know if you remember how shy I used to be, but now I can talk to people and make friends pretty easily. And when I don’t know how to say something or explain something, they always help me out with that too!
It makes me really happy that I have a place where everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Hey, [friend’s name]!
I’m really excited about going to [new school]—I’ve been hoping to get in there for years, and I just got the call yesterday. I can’t wait to see what you’re up to. Have you found your new place yet? Or are you still looking?
Anyway, I’ll be starting classes on Monday, so if you want to come by and show me around on Sunday evening before I leave on Monday morning, that’d be awesome.
Dear [friend’s name],
I hope you’re doing well. How are you and [sibling]?
I just wanted to let you know that I’m in a new school now, and so far it’s been great! I’m taking lots of classes, including math and science, which are my favorite subjects. There are lots of kids here who are really nice. They help me out with my homework if I get stuck on something.
In one class we’ve been learning about countries around the world—their capitals, their economies, their languages… it’s interesting! There’s this one kid from India who knows all about his country’s culture and history. He tells me stories about his family and what it was like growing up there. It sounds like such an amazing place!
My mom brought me some Indian food for lunch today (I think she was trying to cheer me up after yesterday’s test). It wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be, so that was nice—but it did have a lot of curry powder in it! It reminded me of home a little bit; you know how much we love curry at our house!
Hey [best friend’s name],
I hope you’re doing well! I know we haven’t talked in a while, but I wanted to let you know that I’m now a student at [school name]. It’s been a little bit of an adjustment, but it’s going well so far.
The campus is beautiful and the buildings are really nice. The courses are challenging, but that’s what I’m here for. I’ve already made some friends who are in my classes and also live in my dorm. We’re all studying together and going out together. It’s been great so far!
I can’t wait to see you when school starts up again! I miss our lunches together—you always had such interesting things to say about your work or your friends or whatever was going on in your life at that moment. You always made me feel like there was no one else like me, which was really nice because sometimes it feels like there aren’t many people who understand me as well as you do. Hope all is well with you!
Dear [name],
I’m sorry that I haven’t written in a while. I’ve been busy adjusting to my new school, and it’s been really hard! I miss you so much and wish we could be together right now.
The kids here are really mean. They make fun of me because I eat lunch alone, and they call me names like “weirdo” and “loser.” It makes me feel like I’m not good enough to be friends with anyone here.
I really miss our old school, where everyone was nice and we had lots of fun together. I think this is going to be a terrible year without you there to help me through it all!
I hope things are going well for you—if you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Hi, [friend’s name]!
I know it’s been a while since we’ve talked, but I’m so excited to tell you about my new school. It’s called [name of school]. It’s not too far from your house and it has a lot of great teachers who are really passionate about their subjects.
I love how the student body is so diverse, too—there are kids from all over the world here. There’s this one girl from Italy who speaks three languages and plays the violin like a pro, and then there’s this boy from Mexico who makes these amazing sculptures out of recycled materials.
It seems like everyone is so different, but they’re all united by their common love of learning and exploration. It feels like such a safe place for me to grow as an individual, and it has so much potential for us to make real connections with each other as people. The teachers really encourage us to get involved with extracurricular activities too—we just had our first school dance last week! It was so much fun!
Well anyway, that’s all for now! Let me know if you want any more details about what my life here is like or anything else really important that I forgot to tell you about in this letter.
Dear [name],
I can’t believe it’s already been a week since we moved to [city name]! It feels like yesterday that we were standing in the yard saying goodbye to our old house. But I’m so glad we made this decision, because this place is amazing.
The school here is really challenging, but I’m loving it. The teachers are really great and the students are super friendly. We’re learning so much about [subject name]. It’s crazy how much there is to learn about something as simple as [subject name], but it’s also really interesting!
I’m so glad you decided to come with me; I don’t know what I would do without you here! Your new job sounds amazing—I can’t wait until you tell me all about it! Have fun with work today!
Love always, [Name].
