Write A Letter To Your Best Friend About Your New School
Dear [Best Friend’s Name],
I hope this letter finds you well. I know it’s been awhile since we’ve seen each other, so let me just say how much I miss you.
I’m glad that you’re doing well: I saw on Facebook that you got a promotion at work, and it sounds like your new boyfriend is really great. That’s awesome!
But today is different: today is the day that I start my first day of school at [School Name]. It’s been so long since we went to school together—since elementary school, even—that I almost forgot how much fun it can be. But now that I’m about to start again, those memories are coming back to me in full force.
I can’t wait until you come visit and see what kind of adventures we’ll have together!
Dear [friend’s name],
I hope you’ve been doing well! I’m sure you’re still mad at me for leaving, but I promise that this change is really going to be for the best. I know that my parents are kind of crazy about me staying in our old hometown, but I can’t wait to start at [school name].
There are so many things that excite me about being in a new area: having new friends, trying new foods and restaurants, and learning about new cultures. But mostly, I am excited to have an opportunity to make my own decisions and find out what it feels like to live independently. It’s an experience I know will help me grow as a person.
I’ll write again soon! Happy holidays!
Dear [Best Friend’s Name],
How are you? I’m doing great! I just wanted to tell you that I’ve started school, and it’s amazing.
My classes are so interesting. My teachers are all really smart, and they know their stuff. They’re also really nice and helpful. The other students are great too—they’re so friendly and funny, and they always want to be friends with me. There are lots of clubs and activities, too, which is great because it means there’s always something fun going on at school.
I can’t wait for you to come visit me next month! Maybe we could go see a movie or play some basketball? Or maybe we could just hang out at my house and do our homework together?
Love (and miss) you!
Dear [friend’s name],
I am writing to you because I am starting school in a few days and I wanted to tell you about it. The thing is that I have never been to this school before, but the people here seem really nice and they were very helpful when I came here. They gave me a tour of the whole campus and told me where my classes will be.
The campus is really big, with lots of different buildings and lots of green areas. There are also several cafeterias where we can eat free meals during the weekdays if we want to.
The teachers are very nice as well! They even invited me on Friday night to go bowling with them! It was so much fun!
I just wanted you to know how excited I am about starting this new chapter in my life. You are always there for me no matter what happens, so thank you so much for being such a great friend!
Dear [name],
I’m writing to tell you about my new school. It’s called [school name] and it’s a pretty cool place. I’ve met some really nice people so far and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better.
The building looks like an old castle and it’s really pretty amazing inside. There are huge paintings of famous people on the walls and they all have amazing stories behind them, which is really cool. The classrooms are huge too—the desks are so big that we don’t even have to worry about being in the same row as each other! They’re also nice and comfy so we can get some good sleep during class time too (not that we do much sleeping).
I’m also excited that there are lots of places around campus where you can take pictures for Instagram or Snapchat stories—and you know how much I love those things! The only thing that could make this place better would be if there was a Starbucks nearby… but other than that, everything is great so far!
Love, Your bestie.
Dear [best friend’s name],
I’m writing you this letter to tell you about my new school. It’s called [school name]. I’ve been at it for two weeks now, and I really like it here. Everyone is really nice, and the teachers are really helpful. The curriculum is really interesting too—I’ve never had math like this before!
The only thing that’s been hard so far is finding my way around campus, but once I figured out which building was which, it got easier.
There’s also a lot of stuff to do on campus during breaks between classes, so I don’t have as much free time as I thought I would when I first got here. The cafeteria has tons of food options too (and they’re all healthy!), so that’s nice.
I hope your summer has been going well so far—I’d love to hear from you!
Dear [friend’s name],
I’m writing to you because I miss you so much! I started my first day of school at [new school] today, and it’s really different from what I’m used to. The teachers seem pretty cool, but there’s a lot of work to do and it seems like they expect us to be perfect.
I know that sounds like a lot of pressure, but hopefully we’ll still have time for hangouts! You can always join me at the library or go on one of those nature walks we used to love so much.
On another note, I’m really excited about our new apartment. It’s really big—the biggest one we’ve ever lived in by far! I think my favorite part is the balcony where we can sit outside and watch the sun set over the mountains behind us.
Anyway, this was just a quick note from me letting you know how things are going here in [new town]. Hopefully we’ll get another chance soon to catch up!
Hey there, bestie.
I’m writing you because I know you’re going to be so excited to hear all about my new school! I can’t believe how different it is from the last one. I’ve been here for a week, and I already love it. The teachers are super nice, and there’s this one girl who sits next to me in class that’s super cute. She’s actually the one who told me about the cute boy!
The other kids seem like they’re really nice too—there was a group of them sitting together at lunch yesterday, laughing and talking, and it reminded me of us when we were younger. We used to sit together after school and talk about what happened during class or just gossip about boys (or girls).
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that everything is going great here! And if you ever want to come visit sometime, let me know so we can hang out some more!
Dear [Friend’s Name],
I’m so excited about my new school! I’ve been there for about a week, and I love it. The teachers are great and there’s a ton of cool kids to hang out with.
My favorite class is English. We just finished reading The Great Gatsby, and it was amazing. I’m going to have to read that again sometime soon because I want to understand everything better.
Anyway, I think you’d really like it here, too. If you come visit me sometime, let me know!
Dear [Friend’s Name],
I hope you’re doing well! I’m writing to tell you about the new school I’ve been accepted to, and how excited I am to be here with you.
I heard that there are a lot of opportunities for students at this school, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us. I can’t wait to make new friends and get involved in clubs, sports teams, and the community.
I hope you’re having a great summer!
Dear [friend’s name],
It’s been a little over a month since I moved to [name of town] and I’m finally starting to feel like I’ve got this whole new-school thing down. The teachers are really nice, the kids are pretty chill, and there’s this one girl who sits next to me in English class who is so funny. She made me laugh so hard yesterday that she got detention for it! What an idiot.
But anyway, things are going great. I love my room and my new friends, and I’m looking forward to seeing what this semester brings. Hopefully nothing too crazy—I just want to focus on schoolwork most of all!

Dear [name],
I’m writing to you today to tell you about my first day at my new school. I think it’s the most exciting thing that’s ever happened to me!
The first thing I noticed when I got there was how big it was—there were so many people and so many classes! I had no idea what to expect, but after talking with some of my classmates, I realized that everyone was as excited as me.
I also learned that there are a few different things you have to do to get ready for your first day of school:
1) Find out what classes you’re taking (and which ones will be helpful for later in life)
2) Find out where your locker is located (and make sure it’s safe from thieves)
3) Decide on your schedule for after school activities (and try not to overbook yourself!)
4) Find out who your teachers are going to be so that if they don’t seem like good people at first glance then maybe you can find someone else who will actually listen when you say something important instead of just laughing at everything like some kind of joke.
Hey [friend’s name],
So I know we haven’t talked in a while, but I just wanted to let you know that I’m doing great! I moved schools, and it’s amazing here. The teachers are super cool, and all the kids are really nice.
My class is called “Nerd School,” and it’s a lot of fun. We learn about computers and how to make them work better for us, which sounds boring but it’s actually really exciting. Plus we get to play games on the computers after school sometimes!
Do you still have your pet snake? What about those two cats? Do they still love each other?
I hope everything is going well with you and your family—I can’t wait until we finally meet up again!
Dear [name of friend],
I have to admit, I’m a little nervous about starting school here. It seems like such a big change from where I’ve been for the past few years, but I’m excited about it too! My teachers seem really nice, and the students seem really nice too! Everyone seems so friendly and welcoming—I can’t wait to get to know them better.
They also have an amazing cafeteria here. The food is SO GOOD. The first day at lunch, my friend and I were literally fighting over who got the last slice of pizza. And it’s not just pizza—they have so many options! They even have sushi! And they make their own ice cream sandwiches! Since this is my first time in California, I’m really looking forward to exploring all of these delicious new places.
Another thing that makes me happy is how much homework they give us here at [school name]. We have a lot more than we did at my old school, but it doesn’t feel like work at all because it’s so interesting!
