Today, we’ll use a perfect example of writing letters to strengthen an already close bond between two people: you and your aunt. Dive in!

Dear Aunt,
I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to tell you about my best friend, [name]. She’s really cool, and I think you’d get along with her. She has a lot of experience with [activity].
She’s also really good at [activity]. Her favorite color is [color], and she likes to eat [food].
She has a lot of pets, but her favorite pet is [pet name]. She loves it because it’s so cute!
I know that sounds weird, but she’s actually really cool! If you ever want to meet her, just let me know.
Love (me), [your name].
Dear Auntie,
I hope this letter finds you well. I’m writing to tell you about my best friend. Her name is [name], and she is amazing! She’s the kind of person who makes me want to be a better person, and I know she’ll do the same for you.
She’s funny and smart, but she also has this way of listening that makes you feel like she gets what you’re saying—even if it’s something that nobody else could understand. She’s also just so easy to talk to, which is great for when we’re hanging out but also for when we’re doing stuff together like taking a walk or working on a project together (or just talking).
I’m so lucky to have her in my life. And if you meet her, I know that you will feel the same way, too!
Dear Auntie,
I have a best friend and I love her very much. She is my age and she is very funny. She has a pet dog named Taffy. He is so cute and playful. My best friend is always helping me with my homework and listening to my problems. My parents love her too. She came over for dinner at our house last week and we had so much fun together! We played board games and watched TV shows on Netflix all night long!
My auntie, I want you to meet my best friend someday because she will make you happy too!
Dear Auntie,
I’m writing to tell you about my best friend. Her name is [name], and she is a wonderful person. We met in college, and we became friends because we both loved reading. She’s very smart, but she’s not afraid to admit when she doesn’t know something—and that makes her even more lovable. She has always been there for me when I needed her most, whether it was helping me study for a test or just listening to me when I needed someone to talk with.
She’s always trying to make the world a better place, whether that means volunteering at the local animal shelter or donating money to charity. She cares deeply about all living things, but especially animals and children. If ever there was a person who deserved an award for being amazing, it would be her!
So if you see her around town sometime soon (she lives in our hometown now), please give her a hug from me! [Name].
Dear Auntie,
I wanted to write to you today in order to let you know about a new friend of mine. Her name is [name]. You may have heard of her before, but if not, please let me give you a brief introduction. [Name] is a very kind person who loves to help others. She has been a big part of my life ever since we met when we were both young children and she has always been there for me no matter what happens. We have had many adventures together and I am so grateful for all the wonderful things that have happened since we first became friends!
We started out as rivals at first because we were both fighting over who would get the most candy from our teachers during class time but eventually learned how much more fun it was when we worked together instead of against each other! Nowadays when I think back on those days it makes me smile because those memories are still alive inside my heart today!
I hope someday soon you can meet this amazing person too because she would love to meet someone like yourself as well!
Thanks, [your name].
Dear Aunt T,
I’m writing to tell you about my best friend, [name].
She’s the one who helped me get through some tough times in my life and always has my back. She always knows what to say, too—she doesn’t just listen and make you feel better, but she actually helps come up with solutions to problems! I can’t imagine life without her.
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that if any of the people in your family ever meet [name], they’ll probably be very glad they did.
Thanks and best regards, [your name].
Dear Aunt [name],
I hope you are having a good day. I just wanted to let you know that my best friend, [name], is coming to visit me next week! She’s been wanting to come for a while and finally found the time. I’m so excited to see her again! We’ve been friends since we were little kids, and she’s like my sister. We do everything together—she even came with me on my honeymoon, which was amazing.
We’re going to have so much fun catching up and spending the time together. Thanks for being such an important part of my life! I love you!
Thanks and best regards, [your name].
Dear Auntie,
I hope this letter finds you well. I’m writing to let you know about my best friend [name]. We’ve been friends since elementary school and have always been close. She’s a great person to be around—she’s smart, kind, and loyal.
We met when we were both in the first grade. At the time, we were both going through some tough times at home. She was being bullied by a boy who lived down the street from her house, and I was having trouble with one of my teachers. She was really helpful when it came to dealing with that teacher—she gave me advice on how to stand up for myself without upsetting him too much, which is not an easy thing to do as a kid!
She has always been there for me through thick and thin: when I lost my job last year she gave me a place to stay while I looked for another one; when my dad passed away earlier this year she came over every day after work so we could talk about it together; even when she was sick with the flu last month she still came over every night so we could play video games together while eating dinner on our iPads (she said they made her feel better).
Dear Aunt Mary,
I’m so excited to tell you about my best friend! She’s the most loyal and caring person I’ve ever met. She’s always there for me when I need her, and she always has my back.
I’ve known her since we were little girls, and we’ve been through a lot together. But she’s always been there for me—even when it seemed like things couldn’t get any worse. And now that we’re older? It feels like we can take on the world together. We are so much stronger as a team than we would be apart.
She’s been there for me through everything: breakups, family drama, job changes… even when she had her own stuff going on. She supports me in everything I do, no matter what it is—and even when she doesn’t understand it all (like when I joined a book club or started doing yoga), she still supports me!
I know you want to meet her someday soon! You’ll love her—she’s just as sweet as pie!
Dear Aunt Mary,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing to tell you about my best friend and how much she means to me. She is the best person I know and she never fails to make me feel better when I am down. I can always count on her for advice or just a good laugh! She is always there for me no matter what and that’s the kind of person anyone would be lucky to have as a friend. I know this letter probably doesn’t mean much but just wanted to let you know how much your niece appreciates all that you have done for her over the years.
Love, [name].
Dear Auntie,
I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to write and tell you about my best friend. Her name is [name]. She’s a wonderful person, with a great sense of humor and a beautiful singing voice. We’ve known each other since kindergarten—and even then, we knew we would be friends forever.
She is always there for me when something goes wrong, or when I need someone to talk to. You know how sometimes you just need someone who will listen without making judgements? Well that’s what she does for me—and she does it so well!
There are so many things I love about her: her adventurous spirit, her passion for music and art (she plays the guitar), and her ability to make me laugh when I’m down. She has helped me through some tough times in my life; if it weren’t for her support and love, I don’t know what would have happened! It’s hard being away from each other right now because we both live far away from our hometowns—but even though we’re thousands of miles apart right now, our friendship continues to grow stronger every day.
I hope someday we’ll be able to reconnect as adults.
Dear Aunt,
I hope you’re doing well! I wanted to tell you about my best friend. Her name is [name]. She’s amazing. She’s so smart and funny and kind, and she makes me feel like I can do anything. She doesn’t even have to try—she’s just naturally amazing.
I feel like the luckiest person in the world when we hang out together because it’s like having a sister who’s also one of my best friends. We can talk about anything, from the most serious things in life to silly things like what happened on our favorite TV show last night (which was just hilarious). It feels like we’ve known each other forever even though it’s only been since middle school when we started hanging out with each other.
I know this sounds cheesy, but I don’t think there will ever be anyone else in my life who understands me as well as [name] does. You know how sometimes you meet someone and they just get you? That’s what it’s like with her—we just get each other right away, and it feels so good!
Dear Auntie,
I hope you’re doing well. I wanted to write you a letter because I have something really exciting to tell you. My best friend is moving in with me! I know it’s been a while since we’ve gotten together and this might seem like a sudden decision, but it’s not. We’ve been talking about it for months, and now he finally found an apartment that he can afford on his own. It’s going to be so much fun—it will be the first time in my life that I’ve ever lived alone with someone else (I mean, unless you count my husband!).
He’s great—we’ve known each other since high school and were roommates in college. We always knew we’d be friends forever, so it made sense for us to move into an apartment together now that we’re both out of school and working full-time jobs. But what made even more sense was for him to move in with me! He’s been living with his parents for years now, and they’re so happy for him because they don’t have room for all four of them anymore with their new baby coming soon.
